Honeybees Spread Information Efficiently

Function

Honeybees do a dance that tells their fellow bees the distance, direction, and even the quality of a source of nectar. After discovering nectar, a bee returns to the nest to convey the location and amount to the rest of the bees. An appropriate number of bees then head out to collect the nectar. This prevents more honey bees than are needed from going to a single source. In this way, honeybees work together to collect nectar efficiently.
