Lobster’s Compound Eyes Can See 360 degrees

Function

Lobsters, with their compound eyes, have a 360 degree range of vision without changing the position of their eyes or bodies. The surface of the compound eye is covered with regularly arranged, thin, long, square lenses. When light hits the lenses, it is reflected and then focused onto the retina. The eyes recognize which lenses are hit by light and which are not, allowing lobsters to sense even a very small amount of light from any direction.
