Honeybees Produce Propolis that Fights Bacteria

Function

Honeybees protect their nests from microbes by covering them in a substance called propolis. Propolis is a sticky liquid that honeybees make by collecting resin from various plants and mixing it with their own saliva and beeswax. Honeybees also use propolis to preserve the bodies of intruders that enter their nests, so that they can later be eaten as food. Propolis also has disinfecting properties.
